It’s harder than ever to stand out on Steam, and players have tons of choices competing for their time and attention. You’ve put blood, sweat, and tears into your game. And now that it’s finally time to show it off, trying to get it seen can feel like a whole second job!
Here, you will learn about tactics that actually worked for other teams, so that you can stop guessing about what to do next, make the most of the time you do have, and give your game the best possible chance to launch with an audience.

Marketing Tactics You Can Steal
The Indie Outliers newsletter is your weekly playbook of marketing tactics that are actually working for developers like you, right now.

About Me
Hey, I’m Nate! I’ve been in the games industry for the past 15 years. I spent half my career learning how marketing is done at some of the biggest studios in the world before finding my way into the indie game development scene, and I’ve never looked back.
Marketing strategy and public-facing communication is what I do all day, every day. Here, you’ll learn about crafting killer Steam pages that make it easy for players to take action, fostering an avid community, running attention-grabbing social and influencer campaigns, and building a marketing plan that spans pre-announce to release. We’ll also focus on what I call player-first marketing, which places their experience at the center of everything you create around your game.
Game development is more accessible than it’s ever been, which is great! But the marketing side of gaming is still too mysterious and intimidating for too many. I’d love for every team to feel comfortable identifying their audiences and promoting their projects. And so I chose to move into marketing education, because no one should have to figure this stuff out alone.
